tokyo.sora (2002)
A quiet film about modern women (and their loneliness). Technically rather unaccomplished. The narrative is long and bizarrely constructed. But I enjoyed this quite a bit.

I did not expect this movie to be incredible, but it almost was. Almost.

Heavenly Forest (2006)
……huh…..
Had the story any subtlety or depth, it might have been ok. Had the characters any truth to them, Aoi Miyazaki’s might have been adorable. I watched it to see her after all. But … well … huh
edit: to say this reminded me a lot of Rainbow Song, but less cute.

Gets a + for being shot on Tokyo streets. And I liked the actors. But everything else was whatever.

Harmful Insect (2001)
I vaguely remember trying to watch this once but stopping it pretty early on. It seems I was a lot more interested in it this time around.
I believe I am in the mood for more recent Japanese films. I might go on a binge (or I might not).
